22.1.06Piggy-backing on Oaten, but he was drunk, mindLook, look at me everybody. Go on, look. LOOK. It's another one of my scoops that I break fucking ages after it's broken somewhere else. And look, mummy, I caught one of those nasty bummers this time. Yes, mummy, a horrid, sordid little homo. But I nailed him. I really gave it to him. Roasted the little bastard. Skewered him. His daughters, too.So, pleeeease look. Pleeease. Puh-leeeease. That would be Guido: being the detritus, not just sifting through other people's.

Firstly, no-one mentioned the word gay - and I'll send you the high quality version of the audio if you can receive a 26mb attachment.
Secondly, if someone had mentioned gay, we would have edited it out because neither of us sees being gay as something to sneer at. Thirdly, we did the oaten bit twice because we were bladdered and had forgotten we had already done it. furthermore, I was still drunk when i edited it so hearing it twice just gave me a vague sense of deja vu. And before you start having a go, ask yourself why Oaten resigned from the front bench - not because he was gay - but because he needed to go sort his marriage having shat on his wife and kids. Don't forget how much he has used his family in the past, presenting himself as a family man both in elections and the leadership election. The sad thing is that he sees this gayness (gaiety?) as an "error of judgement" rather than a simple preference for c*ck - a denial which I happen to think is more homophobic than anything of which you may accuse me. The word gay may actually have been spoken... but it's hard to tell because you both were so busy making paedo jokes about Oaten at the time:

RM: you could start by answering the specific charges relating to the podcast in that link of Tim's above. (And, yeah, there's an email at the top right of the page. Send it over and I'll come up with some more.)

Hang on, Recess Monkey. You didn't say he was gay? So when Guido says of your podcast, "did it hint enough?", what did he mean?
That Oaten was a paedophile and therefore gay? I think you and Guido need to get together and get your story sorted. # posted by Justin @ 13:20
Do you believe Kennedy was in a hard hat, unconscious in his office having shat himself? Do you believe Opik got hit by an asteroid and has be paranoid about them ever since? Do you believe a government minister will quietly get the sack in this week’s reshuffle having been cautioned under operation ore? Do you believe that MI5 arranged the kidnap of Leo Blair to bounce Ruth Kelly off the Times front page?
The pod was satire - a pile of bollocks no less - no-one complained about it at the time so it’s a bit rich to be having a go now. RM # posted by Recess Monkey @ 17:30
Funny that, because just a day ago you and Guido were claiming a scoop. Actually, gloating would be closer. Now it's a pile of bollocks? Would that be unpleasant homophobic bollocks or just a bit of harmless frat-boy gay-bashing?
And I only didn't complain at the time because, assuming it would be the usual Guido brand of shite, I didn't bother to listen to it. No, it was the dancing on the corpses bit that pissed me off enough to have a pop. # posted by Jarndyce @ 18:13
Hmmm. "No one complained"?
"almost certainly libellous" "think you might have gone a bit too far with Mark Oaten (paedophile)" "I can't believe what a hard time you were giving oaten" "Mark Oaten'll sue you to hell and back" All from the reactions to the podcast you posted at http://guidoandthemonkey.blogspot.com/ # posted by Nosemonkey @ 19:28
The pod was satire
This morning, Guido's defence was that this it was gossip and we should have expected no less. # posted by Tim @ 19:50
I do not think suggesting I may not get sued constitutes dancing on corpse
And the joke about humiliation was a specific reference to his inability to get more than one MP to back him for leader. And I don't think any one of those comments constituted a complaint to be fair, I got less grief over banangirl, where I think i was much more guilty of bad behaviour RM # posted by Recess Monkey @ 20:59
RM - to be fair, you're getting a lot of the stick which should probably be aimed mostly at Guido for falsely claiming the scoop (which, as far as I'm aware, you didn't do).

As far as I'm concerned that's where the annoyance has come with this - any political sex scandal is bound to get its fair share of snide remarks and sick jokes, that's what they're there for (far easier for the papers to do scat jokes and make bad puns than deconstruct the latest pensions plan from the DTI after all). Guido's false claims, misplaced pride, and seeming encouragement of homophobia are, however, seriously ill-judged. As were the paedophile comments, from what I can tell... # posted by Nosemonkey @ 21:19 << Home |
